Design Story:

The unique and bespoke Bloom Ring was a beautiful mixture of modern, floral and antique magic. This client came to me with a gorgeously sentimental ring given to her by her Nana, but she just found it never saw the light of day due to the diamond and silver combination. She envisioned a gold cocktail right-hand ring showcasing her Nana's diamonds with a modern and colourful Erika Watson special (you'll soon see!). As a side project, we also wanted to make us of the silver band left over which we more than accomplished.
VISION BOARD
Drawing on her background as a florist, she wanted a personal, bespoke and completely unique design that showcased those sentimental gems while also pulling through her passion for colour, life and nature. I immediately starting dreaming of something pretty, pink and full of petals.
CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT
As you could imagine, nature provides infinite inspiration so this floral project could have gone one of a hundred different ways but in the end I drew up six stunning initial concepts to build from:
Next came concept refinement. The client was drawn to concept 6 as a foundation from which I refined two more variations:
PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT
With the final design confirmed and the selection of dreamy pink sapphires and champagne diamonds chosen to compliment her repurposed jewels, it was time to turn this sketch into a tangible, wearable piece of art.
Step One: I removed all the stones from their existing settings and checked for any damages before giving them a thorough clean. The rings we were working with were as follows:

Step Two: A new gold band and settings needed to be created before the diamonds and gems were set in place.

Step Three: As mentioned in the brief, we thought it would be a shame to waste the remaining silver band so we gave it a complete makeover by resetting it with a bold and modern black onyx. This gave it a fresh and contemporary feel whilst still keeping that vintage essence that will allow it to remain in the family for years to come.
PRODUCT COMPLETION
Now it was time for the finishing floral touches - the gems to be set!
With a valuation and polish she was the most gorgeous transformation ready to be sent back home to one very satisfied florist and granddaughter.

To be granted full creative license and trusted to transform something old into something so meaningful and lasting was such a thrill and honour!"
